The Intercide OBF range of products is based on the active ingredient 2-n-octyl-isothiazolin-3-one (OIT). Intercide OBF 10 DOTP uses OIT dispersed in Di-octyl-tera-phthalate (classed as non phthalate Lankromark DOTP) to create a product specifically developed to provide a high level of immediate and long term protection of compatible end products such as PVC and silicone sealants against attack by micro-organisms.
The Intercide OBF family is designed to provide fungicidal protection. OIT active has good resistance to UV but only moderate water leaching resistance which renders the product most suitable for use in a variety of indoor applications based on calendaring and extrusion techniques.
OIT active also has some moderate bacteriostatic properties but higher additions may be required.
The Intercide OBF family of products should be incorporated into the PVC formulation during the compounding or extrusion stage of the process.
We are able to offer use of our microbiological facilities to determine the optimum level required for protection.
Avoid pre-mixing with mixed metal stabilisers, add separately and disperse well to avoid any reducing agent impacting the biocide stability.
Intercide OBF 10 DOTP contains 10% OIT when made and as such the addition levels recommended are in the range of 1.00% rising to 2.00%
for the more demanding applications.
